About Us

Denise Giles has a background in nursing and psychology and a passion for working with children and families. She has a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and is currently an affiliate member of the APS. She is a member of the Child Protection Practitioners Association and the Family Law Practitioners Association.

Denise spent over 10 years working in child protection jurisdictions in Queensland and the ACT. She is well-considered in the field of Family Report writing, completing Social Assessments for the children’s court and completing foster care assessments. Denise’s focus is on providing quality reports and services that achieve positive outcomes for children and their families. Denise’s experiences in working with vulnerable families who have experienced domestic or family violence, mental health instability, substance abuse, separation, divorce, high conflict and trauma are extensive. For this reason, she can quickly identify and make sound recommendations to assist children and families rebuild relationships and rebuild their lives.

Scope Consultancy provides independent and holistic reports for the Family and Children’s Courts. They also provide quality foster care and kinship care assessments throughout Queensland and Australia. Denise has over a decade’s experience in assessing children and families and giving evidence in courts and the Queensland Civil Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). In home intervention and education is also available to assist family manage issues of concern.

The reports and assessments focus on the needs of the children and family and provide the court and the parents with recommendations that are both achievable and child-focused.

Referrals are accepted from Legal Aid Queensland lawyers, private solicitors, parents and government departments.
